Dear Sira,

About 8.00 am, this morning the Chief Officer Hr. Hellutchon reported to me that the Carpenter hed informed him that the No. 1 Firemen, Chun Ping, had asked him to take down some wooden casing from the bulkhead in ho. 3 Hold. Le the fireman have no business in No. 3 Hold, the Carpenter reported the matter to the Chief Lfficer who in turn reported to me. I at once ordered the casing to be taken down and behind it was found a number

of prokaper of opium.

We weighed it and found it 68u By this time we were arriving at Shuhai so I had the Custom flag hoisted and when they arrived handed the opium over to them. At the some time No. 1 Fireman was kept under surveillance and was later on hended over to the river police.
